Other Cylinders
Prelube Cylinders
ACP has developed a pre-lubricated line of pneumatic cylinders. They are a perfect fit for situations where adding in-line lubrication is either not allowed or too difficult. Special lubrication reservoirs are designed into the cylinder, which keep the seals and moving parts lubricated without the need to add oil to the supply lines. Special long-lasting seals and wear bands are employed to provide for a long leak-free cylinder life. Finally, heavy-duty rod wipers are used to help keep out water and contaminants from unclean environments. These special features not only allow the cylinder to function without in-line lubrication, but also help make our prelube cylinders long lasting, maintenance free, and very rugged.
Standard Features
- Bronze filled Teflon wear strips are long lasting even under dry conditions, helps keep contaminants from cylinder wall.
- Long lasting, wear resistant urethane o-rings.
- Heavy-duty urethane rod wipers are standard for most prelube cylinders to keep contaminants out.
- Lubrication reservoirs located throughout keep lubrication on moving parts.
- Long lasting rotate or anti-rotate retaining bushings
- Most popular mounting styles are available, special mounts can be made if requested.
Hydraulic Cylinders
ACP also offers hydraulic cylinders. They are manufactured from the same heavy duty, quality materials as our pneumatic cylinders. And, as always, our reliable support staff is ready to assist you with your application needs.
Standard Features
- Cylinder bodies are of damage resistant heavy wall construction with corrosion resistant nickel plating.
- Piston rods are precision machined, hardened and chrome plated to provide maximum wear life.
- Retaining bushings are precision machined steel, specially treated for maximum bearing support and wear resistance.
- Cylinders come standard with Buna-n o ring seals but other options are available.
- Ports are NPTF standard but other options are available.
- 1 sq inch to 7 sq inch cylinders are standard.
Options
- Optional seal materials are available such as viton, carboxilated nitrile, polyurethane or call us with the fluid used for other options.
- Optional ports and port locations are available. SAE or metric ports can be supplied.
- Special bore sizes can sometimes be made.
- Cylinder mounting configurations are available for spot welding, piercing, stamping and other applications.
Square Cylinders
These NFPA interchangeable cylinders are available in aluminum or heavy duty steel styles. They are designed and built to handle the most punishing applications. Our tie rod cylinders are pre-lubricated so line lubricators are not required. All NFPA mounting styles, piston rod sizes and rod ends are available. Please contact ACP for application support or cross-referencing assistance.
Standard Features
- Cylinder bodies are made from aluminum that has been hard coat anodized. This produces a very hard, wear and corrosion resistant surface.
- Piston rods are precision machined, hardened and chrome plated to provide maximum life.
- Rod bushings are precision machined steel, specially treated for maximum bearing support and wear resistance. Bushings made of oil impregnated sintered bronze are also available.
- The end caps are precision machined from aluminum and are anodized for corrosion resistance.
- Bronze filled Teflon® wear band used for strength and stability.
- Bore sizes range from 1 1/2″ through 6″
- Long lasting piston and rod seals are nitrile u-cups.
- Heavy duty polyurethane rod wipers help to keep out water and other contaminates.
Options
- Optional seal profiles such as quad or t-seals are available.
- Other seal materials are available, viton, and carboxilated nitrile are examples.
- Optional ports and port locations are available. BSPT can be supplied.
- Proximity switch options are available.
- Cap and or head end cushions can be added, the cushion screws are captive to allow for safe fine cushion adjustment.
- Stainless steel rods and cylinder bodies are also available.
Pancake Style Cylinders
These compact, lightweight aluminum cylinders are designed to fit in tight spaces. A variety of mounting options are available, as well as double rod type cylinders. Pancake cylinders come standard as prelubricated but can be also ordered without the prelube features making them even smaller, for extremely tight space restrictions. These cylinders can also be made with a magnetic ring on the piston for proximity switches. Our pancake cylinders are very reliable and built to last

Retract Cylinders
Some applications require the use of long stroke cylinders, such as weld guns with large tip openings. When long stroke cylinders are to be used, cycle times can usually be dramatically cut with the use of retract type cylinders. Retract cylinders have a built in pre-stroke position, allowing the cylinder to be fast stroked to the pre-stroke position. Then shorter strokes can be made with the final, or weld stroke. Time is saved by not having to full stroke the cylinder for every cycle.
ACP retract cylinders are available in three or four port styles. Three port retract cylinders have one port dedicated to fully retracting the cylinder. Four port retract cylinders have a separate port for retract return and for weld return. Standard ACP three port retract cylinders come in thirteen different bore sizes from two inches to six inches. Two inch weld stroke is standard but others are available upon request.
Many different mounting and rod end options are available. Prelubricated and proximity switch options are also available. All of the features noted make ACP retract cylinders very useful in a wide variety of applications.
Proximity Switch Cylinders
Most ACP cylinders are available in proximity switch ready versions. These cylinders come ready to accept inductive proximity switches that read when the piston rods are fully retracted. Inductive proximity switches are contact-less, vibration resistant, and they operate with fast switching speeds. Contact-less operation has no moving parts resulting in long service life. Corrosion resistant, weld field immune proximity switch versions are available which prevent false triggering when in the presence of strong electromagnetic fields.
Our proximity switch cylinders are available with several different proximity and port locations. Please call for mounting styles, proximity and port positions, and proximity switch connector style availability.
Metric Cylinders
ACP can provide a metric version of all air and hydraulic cylinders that we manufacture. Any cylinder that is featured in the product guides above can be made with metric ports, and most can also be made hard metric with standard metric bore sizes, strokes, seals and fasteners. Tie rod type cylinders are also available in several different metric bore sizes. Please call for available sizes and mounting configurations.
